In Home Care

In Home Care

Founded in 2005, Age Care Directions is driven by our passion for helping older people and their families. Age Care Directions has assisted hundreds of families in Adelaide with accessing In Home Care, so they may continue to live independently in their own homes.  We have proven knowledge and experience with helping older people access In Home Care throughout Adelaide, including the Fluerieu Peninsula, Adelaide Hills and the Gawler District and can also liaise with family members living in the country, interstate or overseas.

This service aims to assist people who are elderly and are finding it difficult to live independently within their own home, and require In Home Care. This could be due to their deteriorating health, either physically or cognitively.

Why use us?

There are several hurdles you need to navigate when accessing In Home Care, including;

  • there are several different In Home Care programs you can access, including Home Care Packages & the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).

  • you require ACAT approval prior to accessing some of these programs

  • there can be lengthy waiting periods to gain approval, then a further lengthy waiting period for funding to be allocated so you can access a Home Care Package

  • when you receive funding allocation you are required to select a provider within 56 days of being notified. There is a vast array of providers and they all have different fee structures

  • the costs of In Home Care will vary depending on which program you are accessing, or if you are using private care. Each provider can charge administration, case management and exit fees

Accessing these services can be confusing and complex, however Age Care Directions can use our vast experience and wealth of knowledge to help you navigate your way through the maze. Firstly by ascertaining which services you need most, then connecting you to the provider who can best meet your care requirements, while also providing a good quality of care and value for money.

There are many reasons why you might consider engaging our services either for your ageing parents, relatives, or even for yourself;

Eliminate stress

While many are aware of the need for In Home Care, few are aware of the stress that arises from having a family member with declining health and also the complexities that accompanies the process to obtain a Home Care Package. Age Care Directions are able to ease your stress by guiding you through the process and connecting you to good quality providers.

Since its inception in 2005, Age Care Directions has assisted hundreds of elderly individuals and their families. By tapping into this vast experience we are able to provide guidance, simplify the process of applying for In Home Care and help you achieve successful outcomes.

Quality Care

The organisations we recommend are the ones where you (or your relative) can be confident of receiving high quality care. And our confidence in recommending these organisations is strengthened by the positive experiences and feedback provided by the families we have previously assisted.

The National Queue for Home Care Packages has a very long waiting list, and it can be several months before funding is offered. We are able to assist you with accessing the Commonwealth Home Support Program or obtaining privately funded care while waiting for your funding to be approved.

Sometimes it may be difficult to find a provider who is able to offer the services you require. In such cases, we are able to contact In Home Care providers and advocate on your behalf.

Families often find that during the process of arranging In Home care for a loved one that they are met with a degree of resistance from that person, and also they experience feelings of guilt. Many families take advantage of phoning us and talking through the issues that are concerning them or to receive reassurance about the decision they have made.

While we are not licensed to provide financial advice, we are able to explain the various fees and charges that apply for In Home Care Services, and provide you with an estimate of the amount of those fees. What’s more, we can also assist with completion of the ‘Aged Care Fees Income Assessment’. Not all providers of Home Care Packages charge the same fees, therefore the choice of provider can significantly impact on the number of hours of care you will receive.

We offer a free phone consultation and when you decide to engage our services we can visit your home and provide you with the assistance you require. We are available to meet outside normal business hours.

Our service includes a meeting with you, a written report. After we have met, we are still on hand and a phone call away, should you have any questions or require further assistance with accessing In Home Care.
